The game is currently available at
The Game Crafter.
However, I regularly place orders with them so if you live in Sweden and are interested in a copy,
please feel free to contact me.
How does this game differ from the rest of the Nova Suecia games?
Turn of Time is similar to Iconoclasm insomuch that it is
an abstract and tactical game.
The balance between cooperation and competition is there but much more subtle as
the action of turning a game mat will affect several players (positively or negatively). It
is also a very open game where all player actions are clearly visible on the board
and the gameplay is more about assessing open tactical options rather than hidden player
intentions. The absence of random mechanisms that characterize the other Nova Suecia
games is very prominent in Turn of Time.
What makes Turn of Time different from other games?
The tactical gameplay with the ability to affect several players at once is seldom seen in games.
Add to that a game board that keeps changing
as game mats are turned and you have a game with unique challenges.
About the Rules
How is the game best taught to others?
Explain the seasonal order where each season "beats" another season and link it to the objective of getting one's own tokens on the board.
Proceed to explain the actions of placing tokens
(in counter-clockwise order) and turning game mats (one in clockwise order or all in counter-clockwise order), using
the examples from the rules. Also explain the concept of blocked seasons, whereby seasons no longer in a game mat
are unable to return unless hexagons get empty again.
If, in a 4 player game, both Spring and Summer are eliminated from an area, can they ever return?
No. Season must be placed between their preceding and succeeding seasons. In this case, Spring would
have needed Summer and Summer would have needed Spring to be allowed to be placed in the area.
OK, but what happens in a 3 player game if Spring is eliminated? Can she ever return?
It depends on the position. If there are hexes available between Fall and Summer, Spring can be placed
there. If the only available hexes are between Fall and Fall or between Summer and Summer, Summer can
not be placed there until any of the existing seasons are replaced.
