Haven't you ever dreamt of playing a laboratory mouse? No? Well, here is your chance anyway.
Somewhere outside your safe nest there is a tasty cheese. The catch is that the stupid humans have not only placed it in a maze but also that the maze keeps changing. Nevertheless, you want that cheese, even if it means that you have to face dangerous traps. Beware, there are other mice in the maze as well and they may trick you to leave the cheese in their nests instead.
Mice in a Maze was primarily being designed for the
Gamehole Board Game Challenge,
a contest at The Game Crafter for games using take that mechanisms.
Mice in a Maze is a game inspired by pearls like Tsuro
and Indigo with a
surprise addition: the maze is changeable. Just like the name says, you play a mouse in a maze and your
objective is to get in to the maze, pick a cheese and bring it back to your nest. The maze is built by all the players,
one tile at the time, but it may also be changed and you don't get to move until all players have placed
This results in a gameplay where you must plan not only the path for your mouse but for the other mice
as well. A well placed tile can lead the other mice to bring their cheese to your nest but if you don't
watch out, it is your mouse that end up at an opponent's nest.
Mice in a Maze a fun and quickly played game that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Each new tile
changes the colorful maze and opens up new paths with unexpected results. Did someone just open up a
path for a marble to roll over your mouse? Did your secure return path just changed direction to one of
your opponent's nest instead? Play and experience the ever changing feeling of Mice in a Maze!
